想不起来三八还有个妇女节，看来离开本土的时间越长，往事越淡漠了。看了下边同学发来的三八节邮件，把我又带回了10年前。

John met Yan at a Mississauga Chinese grocery store, so she got my number, and so she called. She is living in the city of Guelph, about 1h away from us. I can’t have a clear match of her name and face. Three years after graduation from Concordia, we were thrilled to meet each other.
Yes, it was she, just the way I thought in my mind, and so she said the same thing to me too. Even husbands said they were in the same class once, although they were not closed friends, but they did know each other. The year they graduated, they were the only two found a job in Montreal. Now both families moved to Ontario, husbands are engineers, and wives are accountants. How typical.

Morning of Chinese New Year, I started to log in to the computer, and checked my emails. “Kong Kei Fat Choy” in the subject section has caught my eye. It was from Stephanie, the receptionist. She has sent all Chinese employees a greeting on behalf of company. She said she tried to find a dictionary, and put in Chinese Character, but it was too difficult for her, so she said instead she put in letters.
This is funny, because, Kong Kei Fat Choy, to me more sounds like a foreign language too. I don’t know too much about Cantonese. My son said even his principle said the same thing during lunch break to Chinese students. My coworker from Caribbean said everyone there could say this. He though this means happy New Year in Chinese. Now we know how much early immigration from Cantonese speakers had influence to American, as they now know Chinese can be divided in to Mandarin and Cantonese speakers, as if there is no other languages.

I am really sensitive to caffeine, any time after 12PM, if a little sip, can make me so exited, and toss about in bed for few hours. Even though I really like the smell of coffee, I could always give a wide berth to it. I am sitting just next to the kitchen in up stairs, and every time some body makes coffee, I have to fight myself not to touch it. That is why I seldom go to Tim Horton or Star Buck, though cappuccino is my favorite drink. Just think of the light foam, can make my craving even worse.
I don’t know coffee, and I am not a good hostee. If I have guests coming over, I never know how to persuade them to eat more, drink more. I just don’t know how to do it. Eat what ever you like, don’t be afraid to have a bad dinner table manner. I don’t really care, as long as you don’t make too much noise.
