“Hello.” Came a voice.
Roseene and Rosette jumped, slightly startled. “Who…who…is it?” Roseene asked, trembling with fear.
“I’m Zereus, God of Darkness.” He answered. “I heard you as you stumbled into the dungeon. Tell me dears, have you got the plans?”
Sea blue eyes and lilac coloured eyes met each others gaze unsteadily.
“Well…” they started but before they could start their excuse about getting distracted by a dragon who almost killed them, Zereus frowned.
“So you two girls didn’t get it?” He asked with a hint of coldness tinting his words carefully.
Both girls nodded shamefully, “Yeah, we got caught.” They muttered together.
“I see,” Zereus answered, his voice softening a bit.
They stood in silence for a while, with Roseene and Rosette exchanging glares once in a while.
Rosette studied Zereus for a while. The god wasn’t very visible. All she could see was a large black cloak covering his face hands and legs and his shoes stuck out awkwardly.
They stood in silence for a while before Roseene’s brain started clicking. She thought about the interesting book she read in the library. She hardly went there, but her friend told her about this legend book where you could gain something from a sacrifice.
She remembered flipping through the pages before a colourful page caught her attention. It was something about sacrificing wings for peace. Rubbing her chin a bit, she paused, then blinked…once…twice…CLICK.
“Hey Rosette, Zereus, I have an idea.” She shouted.
They stared at her, indicating they were listening.
“Well, I read this in a book once.” Rosette snorted, Roseene ignored her and continued “Well we have to sacrifice our wings for peace.” She choked, sobs started to well up.
“Oh.” Rosette answered, “We could try, I mean even if it didn’t work, it would be easier to keep our promise…”
Zereus looked thoughtful, “If you girls would like to try.”
By now, Roseene’s sobs had turned into tears, “No, I was just well, anyway, I don’t want to sacrifice MY wings…” she cried.
A frown graced Rosette’s pale features as she muttered something.
“Roseene, you don’t need to, it just means that we’ll have to think of another way to stop them.” He smiled, stepping out of the darkness; he gently patted Roseene’s shoulder.
Roseene gasped! The god was…was…pale. He looked very angel tic and sweet, he had ivory skin with big lavender eyes.
Rosette sighed, catching her attention, “I suppose I COULD volunteer.” She whispered, sending a glare at Roseene.
“So what am I supposed to do, cut my wings off?” she asked, sarcasm dripping from her voice.
“Well, first you’re supposed to lie down.” Roseene answered timidly.
Rosette did as what she was told, “Now close your eyes and put your arms to your side.” She instructed.
“Now…are you sure you want to do this Rosette?” She inquired.
“Truthfully, I don’t know…” Rosette muttered. Rosette stood up and brushed herself off, her wings fluttering a little.
Zereus smiled. “It can be done. This time all you have to do is follow me.” He walked towards the girls and grabbed their hands gently. “Ok just hold on.”
